Replacing a single missing tooth

What is the process of having a single tooth replaced with a dental implant?

A dental implant is positioned once a tooth has been extracted and the tooth socket has fully healed and there is bone replacement in the socket. The dental implant can also be placed directly into the socket immediately after a tooth has been extracted in some circumstances. It is more usual for the dental implant to be left to heal under the gum for a period of two to three months after which it is uncovered, a post attached and the final aesthetic restoration in placed.

How long does a single tooth replacement take?

Placement of the dental implant itself does not usually take very long; the appointment can take up to one hour and then the implant is either left to heal for a period or have a restoration placed on it immediately depending on your suitability.
