What Is Composite Bonding?

Composite bonding (also known as cosmetic bonding) uses a tooth-coloured resin material that is carefully sculpted onto your tooth to improve its shape, colour and symmetry. Once set with a special curing light and polished, the result blends seamlessly with your natural teeth.

At Bloxdent Smiles, we use the latest high-quality composite materials to achieve flawless, long-lasting results.

Composite bonding is ideal for improving:

  • Chipped or worn teeth
  • Small gaps between teeth
  • Uneven edges
  • Mild crowding or misalignment
  • Discoloured or stained teeth
  • Misshapen or small teeth

Why Choose Composite Bonding at Bloxdent Smiles?

  1. No Drilling or Removal of Healthy Tooth
Composite bonding is minimally invasive. In most cases, there’s no need to remove any natural enamel—your tooth is simply enhanced, not altered.
  2. Usually No Anaesthetic Needed
Because the procedure is gentle and does not involve drilling, most patients require no injections, making it a comfortable treatment from start to finish.
  3. Fast, Same-Day Results
Your new smile can often be completed in just one visit—ideal for patients wanting quick improvements.
  4. Natural, Beautiful Aesthetics
We match the composite shade precisely to your natural teeth, ensuring a seamless, lifelike finish.
  5. Repairable
Unlike veneers or crowns, composite bonding can be easily repaired or adjusted.
  6. Cost-Effective Cosmetic Solution
Composite bonding offers a high-impact cosmetic result at a more affordable price than porcelain veneers.

FAQs

Is composite bonding painful?

No. Composite bonding is a comfortable treatment that usually requires no anaesthetic.

How long does the procedure take?

Most composite bonding treatments can be completed in one visit, with a review a week later. Appointment lengths vary depending on how many teeth are being bonded. Anything from 1 to 4 hours.

Will the bonding look natural?

Yes. The composite resin is colour-matched to your natural teeth, giving a seamless, natural finish. We use techniques which use multi layers of composite to add detail, character and a perfect, but natural looking end result.

Can I whiten my teeth after bonding?

Composite does not whiten, so if you are considering tooth whitening, it’s best to do this before bonding so we can match the shade accurately.

Is composite bonding suitable for everyone?

Bonding is ideal for minor cosmetic improvements. For more complex alignment or bite issues, orthodontics or veneers may be recommended.

How do I care for bonded teeth?

Brush twice daily, floss regularly, attend routine check-ups, and avoid biting very hard objects to maintain your bonding for longer. You will also need to ensure you are seeing the dental hygienist every 3-6 months to have a deep clean and a special air polish to maingtain the beauty of your composites.

How Long Does Composite Bonding Last?

With good oral hygiene and routine dental check-ups, composite bonding typically lasts 3–7 years. Avoiding habits like nail-biting and chewing hard objects can extend its longevity. Eating and drinking heavily coloured foods can cause them to stain and lose their lustre quicker.
